Fix the redirect loop on WordPress multisite

I just ran into an issue when I was setting up a local version of a WordPress multisite. The main site was working as expected, but when I tried to navigate to a sub-site I only found a redirect loop.
I did however find a .htaccess fix for this issue on this forum thread.
